Happy Solstice

June 2026

We always celebrate the Solstice at Farnham Community Farm with our adult and youth groups. We bring food to share, make solstice wishes and indulge in some face painting - the latter as popular with our adult group as with the children! Thanks to Myung-Hye Chun for the lovely photo of Erica with Brenda, our oldest member of Bee-PLUS - but still young at heart!

May mayhem!

May 2026

May has been quite the month for Hive Helpers! Erica delivered a workshop 'All About Bees' for Surrey Wildlife Trust, we led a Bee Safari on World Bee Day, as part of the Farnham Walking Festival, where we were thrilled to discover a Bryony mining bee (above, captured beautifully by David Gosnell), and finally we became TV stars! That's TV Surrey came to Blacknest Fields to film a report on World Bee Day, highlighting the nature recovery site and how we help in the conservation of the wild bees there. See us on TV

First Bee Safari!

April 2026

We've just held our first Bee Safari of 2026 on the Farnham Bee Trail. Here's one of our young participants having a close look at one of the wild bees we found, with thanks to David for the brilliant photo. Despite the somewhat chilly weather, bees we found included a beautiful red-tailed queen bumblebee, an ashy mining bee and a grey patch mining bee. We will be doing another Bee Safari as part of the Farnham Walking Festival on 20th May, appropriately World Bee Day! (Details here
